A young couple was expecting their first child and chose an obstetrician to take care of their prenatal care in 2021. Unfortunately, in December of 2021, the expecting mother was admitted to Auxilio Mutuo’s due to labor contractions at about 34-36 weeks of gestation. A sonogram was performed, and they could not detect the baby’s heartbeat. Shortly afterwards, the obstetrician delivered the lifeless body of their baby. In December 2022, the couple hired our services, and we sent out a demand letter asserting, among others, that the obstetrician didn’t diagnose severe fetal growth restriction, which could have detected early signs of fetal compromise and prevented the unfortunate outcome. The matter was settled out of court to the satisfaction of the clients in March 2023.
